Who We Are
Based in Lake George and serving the greater Colorado area, XP Adventure is more than a guide service—we are an educational institution dedicated to the vertical world and the wilderness beyond. We believe the outdoors is the ultimate laboratory for growth, where the "Outdoor Classroom" replaces textbooks with the rugged beauty of the Rockies. By blending high-impact adventure with purposeful learning, we empower our community to discover what is possible when expertise meets excellence on the trail.
Our Core Values
Technical Grit Definition: The intersection of perseverance and skill. It is the ability to remain calm and analytical when faced with a physical or mental obstacle. In Practice: Whether a student is struggling with a difficult "crux" on a rock face or feeling frustrated by a complex map bearing, they are encouraged to rely on their training rather than their emotions to find a way forward.
Radical Self-Reliance Definition: The confidence and competence to meet one’s own needs without external intervention. It is the transition from "someone help me" to "I have the tools to handle this." In Practice: Students learn the fundamental survival skills—fire, shelter, and navigation—not just for safety, but to prove to themselves that they are capable of thriving in an environment they cannot control.
Active Stewardship Definition: A commitment to leaving people and places better than we found them. It is the recognition that we are guests in the wilderness and members of a larger community. In Practice: This goes beyond "Leave No Trace." it involves teaching students to actively care for their gear, support their teammates' emotional well-being, and respect the natural history of the Colorado landscape.
Collaborative Leadership Definition: The understanding that true leadership is an act of service. It is the ability to guide a group toward a common goal by leveraging the unique strengths of every member. In Practice: On the trail or at the crag, leadership rotates. Students take turns as "Point Navigator" or "Camp Manager," learning that a leader’s primary job is to ensure the safety and success of the entire team, not just themselves.
Mission
Our Mission: To deliver transformative outdoor experiences that bridge the gap between adventure and education. Through conscious guiding and technical excellence, we empower individuals to master the wilderness and become lifelong stewards of the natural world.
Vision
Our Vision: To establish the wilderness as the premier classroom for character development, equipping navigators with the grit to face challenges and the skills to lead with empathy.
